Sand Landing, Escambia County

by Josh and Drew
(Florida)

May 26, 2011, QUESTION: I was wondering if you could tell me anything about the Sand Landing hunting club? I was told that the state bought the land a few years ago and the club is non-existent now. Is the old Sand Landing property open to the public now? Thank you much. Josh and Drew

ANSWER: The Northwest Florida Water Management District owns Sand Landing, which is north of Highway 90 on the Perdido River in Escambia County. It is part of the Perdido River Wildlife Management Area. The landing is currently open, and the District controls the property. Click on this link to view a map in the Perdido River Wildlife Management Area brochure. Another map showing that part of the WMA a little better is available through the Northwest Florida Water Management District (phone number follows). Questions regarding the Sand Landing property can be directed to Tyler L. Macmillan at 850-539-5999 or 800-913-1518; or to Steve Brown at 850-626-3101.

I hope you find this information helpful.
