If you've ever asked yourself, "Where can I go hunting around here?" You've hit the bull's eye for answers! Place your sights on THIS SITE as your guide.

You just bought that shiny new muzzleloader, Winchester rifle, or "whatever" shotgun. You're itchin' to use it. But you've got a problem:
You don't own private property.
You can't afford a private club lease.
You still haven't won the Florida lottery.

What do you do? Maybe my website can help!

First of all, I am not a hunting guide , and this is not a hunting guide business. However, I am able to share with you the knowledge I've gained from over 50 years of living in the great outdoors of North Florida.

I was born and raised on back strap and Browning rifles. I've tracked for whitetail deer in the Apalachicola National Forest, hunted for lost hounds in Mud Swamp, and wrangled with wild turkeys at the rattlesnake curve. I've even shot coyotes off the back side of a deer.

But enough about me. We need to find YOU that perfect spot. Let me and my lovely wife Brenda help.

Through my own personal experience, I have discovered great places on North Florida public land. If you live in or visit the Tallahassee, Florida, area you will find public land in almost any direction you go.  So sit back and take a few minutes to browse through the website. I know you will find the perfect spot for your next hunting experience.

This is your information guide to hunting on public land in Florida. You can find valuable information on where to hunt in the many wildlife management areas as well as up-to-date regulations for hunting in Florida. You will also find articles, stories, photos, and much more as you browse through the website. We welcome your stories, photos, and any other contributions you care to share with other hunters like yourself!

Red-shouldered Hawk - Apalachicola National Forest

Wood Stork(Mycteria Americana)

I recently spotted this wood stork in the Apalachicola National Forest.  As of August 28, 2013, it is classified as an endangered species by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service; however, there have been proposals to downlist it to threatened.  The wood stork is the only stork that presently breeds in North America.  In the United States there is a small breeding population in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake

While out dove hunting the other day, I was quickly reminded of why I invested in a pair of snake-proof boots.  This big Eastern diamondback rattlesnake looked to be about 5 feet in length and was shaking his tail of 17 rattles and a button.  When I walked toward him to take his picture, he popped up into his ready-to-fight stance with his rattles already shaking.

I took a dozen pictures from different angles.  And all the while, without dropping down, his piercing glare and upper body followed my every move as I circled around him.  The constant reminder of impending danger reverberated from the never ending shaking of the rattles at the end of the snake's coiled tail.

I couldn't help but to feel sorry for any critters unfortunate enough to come within striking distance of the snake's venomous fangs.  They would not have a chance to get away from this frightening predator who is easily camouflaged in the woods.
