Hogs?

by tory bishop
(crestview)

December 4, 2011, QUESTION: Where and what time of day is the best for prime hogs?

ANSWER: As far as where to hunt, here are links to previous hog questions, which is a culmination of what I've learned about hogs and their density in your part of the state:

Hog hunting on Blackwater WMA.
How to locate hogs in Escambia?
Hog Hunting?
Where can I hunt wild hogs in Florida?

When hog hunting, the "when" to hunt is controlled by the "where" to hunt. Hogs are very nocturnal but will move in the day in the cooler, moister areas. Most management areas do not allow night-time hunting for hogs.

The Florida Wildlife Commission says that the best hog hunting wildlife management areas in the Northwest Region are: Aucilla, Blackwater Hutton Unit, portions of Blackwater, Apalachicola Bradwell Unit, Choctawhatchee River and portions of Joe Budd.

Here are some helpful FWC links:

I hope you find this information useful.
