2010 Spring Turkey Season - Apalachee Longbeards First Turkey Competition.

Spring is here and it is time to get in the turkey woods and harvest your first turkey. The Apalachee Longbeards are hosting our first ever "First Turkey Competition."


The competitionis open to any NWTF memberin north Florida and south Georgia who has never harvested a bird.The bird must be harvested in Florida or Georgia during the 2010 Spring Turkey Season.


Each participant registering, harvesting a bird and submitting the required information andpicture will receive a NWTF First Turkey pin, an Apalachee Longbeards First Turkey patch, an Apalachee Longbeards Certificate of Achievement and be entered for a chance to win our grand prize. Grand prize winner will be determined by weight, beard and spur length.


Grand Prize:

1.Full day turkey hunt for the 2011 Spring Turkey season.

2.Remington 870 Magnum Turkey Gun

3.Personalized, autographed Allen Jenkins Signature turkey call.

4.Mossy Oak NWTF Turkey Vest

5.Fan, spur and beard mount (only for turkey harvested on this hunt).

6.Apalachee Longbeards shirt and hat.


The Rules:

You must fill out the registration form by clicking on the link below. Birds must be harvested in Florida or Georgia during the 2010 spring seasonand hunter must have a valid hunting license for that state (youth may be exempt based on age).When you harvest your bird you will need to submit a picture along with the length of both spurs closest to the 1/16 inch, beard length and weight.This canbe done on a form to be on the site once the season begins. Fill outthe form and mail or e-mail in with your picture.Winner will be determined by a panel of judges that are members of the Apalachee Longbeards Hunting Heritage committee.In the event of a tie, the winner will be chosen by a random drawing.The winner will be announced and prize awarded at the Apalachee Longbeards annual Hunting Heritage Banquet held August 14, 2010 at the Tallahassee Car Museum in Tallahassee.
